I remember writing at the start of the year that I thought this year, with the sounding vibration of the 20/20, would be a healing/learning year. I thought we would ease into an easier year once the Pluto/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn had done its work. I guess with the fires here in Australia finishing, it seemed that the worst was behind us. What a beautiful reminder of the potency of the planets in their playground (the Solar System), especially Pluto, moving stealthily out there in the outer realms (or so we think).
I remember when Pluto first went into Capricorn in 2008. The ensuing GFC left the world reeling. It was our first taste of the transformational aspect of Pluto on the financial markets for a long time. Pluto rules transformation, with the phoenix squarely in one’s mind as an image encapsulating it. Pluto contains the energy of the destroyer – 1stRay in Esoteric Rayology. Capricorn is also said to be part ruled by Ray 1 – Will and Power. Think about that level of potency when you add them together.
Pluto also rules death – death to forms long outworn and no longer needed, death from life itself so that the Soul can move on into another phase of its experience. It is the form of things that die, not the actual consciousness. That moves on to another phase or another life.
Lessons learnt from the GFC were forgotten or at least put to the side. Instead we not only reverted to our same ways, but as the greedy usually do, we multiplied our ambition. Anyone investing in shares knows the feeling of wanting the same level of return, if not more, for each dividend, every time. Multiply that by an increasing middle class all over the world and we can start to see how we came to this current world dilemma.
As the world started to change, new ways of still maintaining the same financial output had to be found, including cutting costs (wages) and services. The end result, in the minds of many, still had to be the same. The economy had to be robust, surplus needed to remain. Tell me in what area of life do you not see cycles in things? This current event was more than inevitable.
Enter Saturn! If one thing astrologers know about Saturn is that he levels the playing field. He rules Capricorn, ruling structure and discipline, just like his beautiful structured rings around himself. At the highest level, on what we call the Monadic or Hierarchal level, he rules Libra, the great adjudicator and judge of what is fair and true. Imagine his dismay as he watched over the Earth and saw the imbalance throughout the world. He probably thought, I will send them to their rooms…..
The conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn went direct on January 12/13 this year. It was an intense lead up, you could feel it all year. Little did we anticipate the tsunami of an experience that was getting ready to be released. The COVID-19 supposedly started in mid-December in China, roughly a month before the exact conjunction. Since then we have had the direct pass of Saturn past Pluto and the corresponding transformation of our lives since then.
When planets have aspects (angular relationships with each other), they can all vary with how long they go on for and how long they last. One would imagine that this particular one will last for a while. Saturn has just moved into Aquarius briefly, before it retrogrades back into Capricorn from the 2 July until the 17thof December (a day before my birthday – happy birthday to me) and 4 days before the great conjunction between Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius (more of that in the coming months).
Expect the period from now until the 2ndof July, during which Saturn will be in Aquarius, to be one where there will be a definite reordering of structure in our community. Hmm did not need to be said really, I think we all get that (lockdown). Saturn will assist us to set up new ways of structuring our lives, especially in relation to groups and our community. He will also be a disciplinarian. If you think the tighter controls are unjust, perhaps you should consider them as very necessary at the moment.
We will all need greater discipline in our lives for the coming period. Hygiene, social distancing, expenditure of money, being calm, helping our fellow humans, realising we are all connected, is being brutally brought to our consciousness. As I said, Saturn levels the playing field, he is the great balancing agent in our Solar System. He also rewards for responsible action, so nothing will be in vain.
After a few months of being back in his hometown of Capricorn, Saturn moves back into Aquarius at the end of the year, just before he is joined by Jupiter. That will require a few posts to break down that potential of a transit.
Perhaps you are wondering why the virus has exploded in the last few weeks. One word comes to my mind – Jupiter. Right now, we have Jupiter sitting within a degree of Pluto, followed by Mars and then Saturn. Talk about a combination. Mars is adding some real force in there, giving a very direct and devotional influence with the 6thRay (The virus is all anyone can think about). And yet it is Jupiter which is multiplying the effect.
Jupiter is our greatest planet in the Solar system. It is ruled by the 2ndRay of Love/Wisdom, the unifying force of our Solar System (the Sun is also ruled by the second Ray). This year is about learning Love and from that, we will gain more wisdom. How can we not learn to Love our fellow Humans more and on a deeper level when we see what is going on in the world? A gift in the carnage.
Wherever Jupiter transits in a chart, it expands, just like its physical outer shell. Jupiter is made up of gas, it is literally a huge gas giant. Its movement towards Pluto and eventually Saturn will only expand what we are seeing. Unfortunately for the time being, I don’t see much of a let up, until it moves away from Pluto.
In saying that, the great conjunction is coming on December 21st of this year, where Saturn and Jupiter meet together in Aquarius for the first time since 1405. Something special will arise from that. Hopefully it will be the silver lining for a year of dramatic change, if we can get there in one piece.
Enjoy the new Aries energy if you can. Try to make the most of it, though in your self-isolated state you might drive yourself bonkers wanting to start new things (Aries influence). Just refine that energy into the more subtle realm. There will be an influx of digital and online activities thrown at you (we are in the Aquarian age after all), so do your best to keep yourself entertained. More importantly, try to keep your consciousness above the emotional and astral waters and in the higher mind and intuition, where you will find the Heart.
Look after yourselves.
